Mayfair United Church manse was the setting for the wedding of Betty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Haynee, Regina, and Mr. Lorne Earl Meyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. I.O. Meyers, Saskatoon. Both the bride and groom were former residents of Saskatooon.
Rev. R.J. Smith officiated at the ceremony, during which the bride was given in marriage by her brother, Fred. She chose a navy wool suit for her wedding, wiht white satin s traw hat and white accessories and her corsage was of orchids.
Mrs. Nina giesbrecht was her sister’s matron of honor and wore navy accented by white with white accessories and pink rose corsage.
The groom was attended by Mr. Bob Harrison.
The mother of the groom wore a two-piece blue suit with white and navy and shoulder knot of red roses.
A lace cloth covered the bridal table at the reception held at the hom of the froom’s parents. A tiered wedding cake and tall pink tapers in crystal holders formed its centrepiece. Mrs. Dorothy harrison was in charge of the register which was signed by 45 guests and Mr. Henry Giesbrecht porposed the toast to the bride. Looking after the pleasure of the guests were Mrs. Louise Thomson, Mrs. E. Dockstader and Mrs. R. Mc-kay.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyers left by train for Calgary, where they eill make their home.

OBITUARY OF MEYERS – LORNE EARL
March 9, 1936 – September 9, 2010
Lorne Meyers “Big Louie”, beloved husband of Betty of Calgary, played his final round on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the age of 74 years.
Besides his loving and devoted wife Betty, Lorne is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Kenn and Laurie and Rick; six grandchildren, Lauren, Mike, Kyle, Jess, Ali, and Natalie; brothers, Glenn (Darlene), and Ken; sister Pat; nephews, Jason and Darren; as well as a much loved extended family in Phoenix, Arizona; and many dear life-long friends.

A Celebration of Louie will be held at the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club (2502 – 6th Street N.E.) on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
